I think people are missinterpreting the line "miles above the clouds" as meaning heaven. It can be, but in the first part she's talking about taking a star to someone and the lyric could mean seeing the star above the clouds than heaven.
The chorus does kinda hint in that direction but it could mean something completely different than saying farewell to someone who died.
Is not about a miscarriage, do not understand why people keep saying it !!!! anyway its a great and spectacular song because has and specific meaning for every individual human being , though
no its not since when did she have a miscarriage? she is a mother with a 2 year old son so its obviously a lullaby tbh and besides christina has never spoken to anyone in an interview to sound intellectual and pretencious or anything about the song so that is something some retard came up with
awww yeah, it is true that a song can have different meanings for folks, it also can make bittersweet memories come alive. I think that gives testament to the quality of a song.
We may never know what her meaning was for this song. Its a very beautiful song, whats important and what she always tries to get across is how we can take it into our own lives. Like looking at a painting. Our own interpretation. For me, it takes me back to when i was 16, when i gave my son up for adoption. This song embodies a lot of the thoughts and emotion i was feeling at the time, and still do to this day. I feel fortunate that i can sit down and listen to it and still feel positive about my decision. But like i said shes an artist, she paints a picture with words, u have to make your own conclusions up as it goes along.
hmm, yeah i don't really know what its about, but its a beautiful song.
of all her albums bionic is the one i can relate to the least, because now she's a mother/wife & her music is pretty much a reflection of her life, but thats what i love.
I listened to that song yet again just to be sure. As a mother, I'm tellin' ya....this is a bedtime lullaby for Max. I totally agree with Candee and Madame X. It's about the connection between a mother and child. It's about that mother/child connection during dreaming and sleep and even in death. I think when she says 'So long my little dreamer, I will miss your face', she's not talking about death. She just simply means she is going to miss Max's face until morning when they both wake up. I miss my son after I lay him down at night. I miss him right now. Urgh! Now I'm gonna cry. lol
@ Jayna I love how you believe your own opinion eough to think it is a hit and therefore they were nuts to leave it off.
I don't know why people are so blind that they never see anybody's opinion but their own.
Add Little Dreamer to the rest of the 'sure hit' pile. Just in case you didn't see, there is a pile and a long line of opinions about what songs should be where.
If they listened to us they would still be stuck at the starters line saying 'eenie, meanie, miney, mo'.
I personally believe the song is about your true love, and if they die you'll be with them after you die, or your love for them extends through time and space and you're even with them in their dreams . And , or it very well could be about her son
All I know is the biggest mistake they made, leaving this off the Deluxe CD and only on iTunes. This had the makings of a bit hit for her. What were they thinking? They could have left off I Am - Stripped version at the end and put this on the Deluxe, and then released it as a single.
People love drama, that's way they make up stories of miscarriage, cheating or whatever.
I had not thought about it being a lullaby before I read Dee's message but it seems like it. It's a sweet song and it has such an upbeat feel to it, love it!
As others said, it also evokes death but with a (kind of) positive point of view.
That makes sense! The title is Little DREAMER, afterall. I like that interpretation, so sweet and cute just like the song. I'm going to start playing Little Dreamer right before I go to bed so I myself can dream about galaxies! Hahaha
That's also possible. Particualrly in parts where she seems to be bidding farewell. The end of youth, perhaps a metaphore for her turning 30, realizing she's not that little girl anymore.
ummm I got the impression that it may be about losing one's younger self, no longer having the innocence to be free with dreams, and through sleep she is hoping to reconnect with the dreamer she used to be, but i could be wrong but that was my impression.
@phantom11: but she goes on to say "a galaxy away is not so far"
(galaxies are light years apart from one another...)
--
So to me, my interpretation of the song is really about the strong bond between a mother and her child. (even if they're galaxies apart... they will still be connected to one another...)
What I thought of when I saw 'light years away', is what she said in interviews when she talked about Max, 'his generation, his future.' If you put it in the poetry sense and not the literal.
Cause trust me, I feel 'light years away' from the generation coming up right now.
If the song is towards someone, I don't think it's max. Some of the lyrics, particularly the chorus and the the second verse especially: "Even though we sleep light years apart" light years to any sci-fi fan on here would be familiar with the term being a measurment of distance so I can't see that it could be Max given some of the lyrics.
That is of course presuming that the song has any real significance beyond being a very beautiful song. That's very possible too. A friend of mine is always telling me I read into things too much. Lol
i agree with what candee2 said: that it's a song about mother and child being connected in life and death. "We'll always stay connected through time and space"
--
It's not about miscarriage because she sings "Look at the stars, I will take one down for you..."
I think she's talking about Max... that she will do anything for him...
I'm with Dee on this one, I think it is a bedtime lullaby with focus on "sleep". But I do think death comes into it too, in a subtle way, because death could be likened to an "Ultimate Sleep", if you like. When you are dreaming, or when you are dead, you are not conscious of being alive. So, I think the song relates to how the connection between each person and their family will always be there... when alive, and when you are gone. It is an infinite connection of love, in any dimension of time and space.
Look at the stars, I will take one down for you
No matter what the distance, I’ll see it through
I’ll fill you in between the sun and moon
‘Til the end I’ll be waiting
And whenever in night, the lights go down
I know that you’ll go on to shine somehow
And even if you’re miles above the clouds
‘Til the end I’ll be waiting
Now I lay you down to sleep
I pray we’ll meet inside my dreams
So long, my little dreamer, I’ll miss your face
We’ll always stay connected through time and space
The journey that we shared but now have to leave
Will live inside of us for eternity, yeah
Little dreamer,
little dreamer,
little dreamer,
little dreamer
Lalala
Look through the dark, there’s a compass in the sky
If ever you’re lonely and question why
Remember that I’m always by your side
‘Til the end I’ll be waiting
And even though we sleep lite years apart
The galaxy away is not so far
Because we know the future is our star
‘Til the end I’ll be waiting
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray we’ll meet inside my dreams
If I should go before I wake
I pray our souls will join again
So long, my little dreamer, I’ll miss your face
We’ll always stay connected through time and space
And everything we hoped that could never be
Will live inside of us for eternity
So come on my little dreamer, I’ll miss your face
We’ll always stay connected through time and space
The journey that we shared but now have to leave
Will live inside of us for eternity
Destiny will be a part of you, babe (will be)
I'll feel you in the atmosphere (I'll feel you)
And nothing will be left to fear (nothing left to fear)
Little dreamer, little dreamer (Ooh, said)
Little dreamer, little dreamer (Ooh oh)
Little dreamer, little dreamer (Ooh, ooh)
Little dreamer, little dreamer (Ooh, ooh)
So long, my little dreamer, I will miss your face
We'll always stay connected through time and space (little dreamer)
And everything we hoped that could never be (so mamma)
Will live inside of us for eternity, yeah (I'll see you there)
So long, my little dreamer, I will miss your face (always, always)
We'll always stay connected through time and space (ooh oh)
The journey that we shared but now have to leave (ooh)
Will live inside of us for eternity, yeah (oh ah)
I will be with you till the end
Mmm, always be waiting 'till the end
I've read that too about it might be about a misscarriage and at first glance it does almost sound like a song saying goodbye to someone who died(or in a weird way, a farewell message to someone the other way. Like a farewell letter written before a person died).
I think people are missintertpreting the line "miles above the clouds" as meaning heaven. I think that's more a metaphore for shining like a star in the sky. But that's my interpretation.
It seems like a farewell message, that's one way of looking at it. The other of course is what candee2 said. As for misscarriage, I'm not even gonna touch that. That's really getting a little too personal and I think yeah people are misinterpreting the song being about death.
But you know, that's the beauty of art. You can interpret it anyway you want.
you may wanna post the lyrics some people may not have heard the song.
I believe it's a simple bedtime song for kids. Dreaming is like being in the clouds. Added to it is the play on words with the little prayer, 'if I should go before I wake'. To me it's just saying, the mom and child will be connected in life and in death. It is an assurance to the child that even in sleep she is there.
It's a prayer based on the fact that we are not guranteed a tomorrow, not on a death that already happened.
all i know it's a mother's song to her child in general

i think about a miscarriage. i love this song!
It's a beautiful song, whatever it's meaning to individuals.
