Favourite Books
I just finished reading Malory Towers books for the many times.
Suddenly I wondered if anyone here who also likes to read books.
I loved Enid Blyton with her works such as Malory Towers, St. Clare's, and The Famous Five.
I also like Astrid Lindgren, the book such as The Six Bullerby Children and Pippi Longstocking make me read repeatedly.
For Mystery, i loved Agatha Christie.
I also like Harry Potter, Eragon, and Tunnels. I wonder what is your favorite book?
For me, Enid Blyton is the best author for kids story, but still can be enjoyed by all ages and the story is never outdated.

Gonna buy The Casual Vacancy when it released in my place? Is it good or not?
I don't like electronic book.
For me, book is book..
You have to hold it while you reading it.
It's very nice of you opening this kind of forum that is related to books. Nowadays, is full of modernity, such as: internet, facebook, twitter and books are forgotten by so many people who used to read but now don't read anything. One of my friends at my college, is doing letters with me, and when you are doing this course you are destined to read and she doesn't like to read at all, in her conception reading is very boring, but I don't think so. When you read, you can stimulate imagination and bring a world built by you, and you entertain through the words contained in the book.
One of my dreams is to build a library in my house, with it I can bring culture for the others generations.
My first favorite book is all Harry Potter books written by J.K. Rowling. (I have all the books in two versions: English and Portuguese)
My second but also is my favorite is Emma written by Jane Austen and also Pride and Prejudice (I love her very much, and how she says about the old England, and how the women were so obsessed in husband-hunting).
But also love: Charles Dickens (Christmas' Carol, David Copperfield, Oliver Twist), Agatha Christie (Murder on the Orient Express), Edgar Allan Poe (I love his tales, but my favorite is "The fall of the House of Usher), William Shakespeare (Romeo and Juliet, Otello, Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice), Mark Twain (I really love the book "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" Recommended)

Books... used to be my surrogate life... there were many, but the following I still like most and would wish to have with me in the case of being dumped on an isolated island:
],

'The Belgariad', 'The Malloreon', 'Elenium' and 'Tamuli' series by David and Leigh Eddings.
'Ice!' by Arnold Federbush.
'Jack Reacher' novels by Lee Child.
'Aloysius Pendergast' novels by Douglas Preston & Lee Child.
'The House between the Worlds' by Marion Zimmer Bradley.
The 'Riddle-Master' series by Patricia McKillip.
'So lasst uns denn ein Apfelbäumchen pflanzen' by Dr. Hoimar von Ditfurth ['So let's go plant an apple tree', alluding to a statement ascribed to Martin Luther, the founder of the Protestant religion; reportedly this was his reply to the question what he would do if he knew that tomorrow would be Doomsday...].
'Tao Te King' by Lao Tse.
The 'Stainless Steel Rat' series by Harry Harrison.
'Jack Ryan' novels by Tom Clancy.
'James Herriot' novels by James Herriot (a.k.a. James Alfred Wright) [James Herriot being a vet, not a veteran...
'Lord of Death' by Tanith Lee.
'Raptor' by Gary Jennings.
'Star Wars' by George Lucas.
'Ein Stück Himmel' ['a square of sky'] by Janina David [actually a trilogy, with one extra book about her life in Australia, after the abominable horrors prior and during WW II ...].
'Morgen dürft ihr nach Hause' by Hans Helmut Barkenthin [approx. 'Tomorrow you will be allowed to go home'; it is about being a German prisoner of war in Russia].
'Callahan's Crosstime Saloon' by Spider Robinson.
'Momo' by Michael Ende.
Second to last, the 'Spellsinger' series by Allan Dean Foster.
Last, but not least, the U.S. Army Survival Manual... for obvious reasons...
Nevertheless, be it few or many, PLEASE DO READ BOOKS --- a movie will not be able to replace what the cinema inside your head could do for you...
I USED TO LOVEEEE ENID BLYTON! Especially The Secret Seven series.
I'm pretty sure there are another topic for just like this.
Anyway my favourite writer is Julie Andrews if it's childrens books, Robin Cook if it's crime and J.R.Ward if vampires come to the way. All the way Black Dagger Brotherhood series!
