Avril is as much punk rock as Jimmy Eat World.
Not to say that I don't love both Avril and Jimmy Eat World. I just saw JEW live, and they were incredible...and I'm saving up my cash to buy a ticket to Avril's "Black Star Tour."
That being said, Avril is pop, and her "image" was created by her record company, who wanted a rebel, not another Britney Spears. Not to say that Avril can't write great songs, or that she doesn't have a great singing voice, because she does. But she also has a very bad attitude.
The funny thing is about Avril Lavigne was:
She was as much pop as the ones she bashed. You can flash all the devil signs and put up all the pentagrams you want. Hint Avril, use the inverted pentagram if you want to actually come off as a "badass". You don't present yourself as a rebel and then play it safe.

Ijamseeds, you do know that Avril has never liked Christina amongst others, right? When she first came into the business, she wanted to seperate herself from pop so much and be considered punk rock, that she trashed everyone she considered pop including Christina. So unless she gained any sense since then, what she has to say wouldn't make a difference on these forums.
Miley worships Christina, their relationship just recently came about. I do believe they got close at one of Christina's premieres for Burlesque. If I'm remembering correctly. But, she has not been shy about her love for Christina and when she got the chance she went for it.

I agree with you. When Not Myself Tonight was released, the critics loved it. They praised her vocals, the style and stuff... But then a few (Jerkez Hilton and Gaga's fans) started to throw sh*t on her and it all went down.
I hope they don't do that to Burlesque. It seems to have all the ingredients to become a successful musical.
but i dont wanna put all my hopes on what cher said. it's just that everything she does now is like being observed under a microscope by the cruel press... like what happened in bionic, it's the media that can make or break (again) her next project. so still keeping my fingers crossed. i don't wanna jinx it.

Have you noticed the amount of new artists that love Christina? People that were born in late 80's or 90's, who grew up listening to this new millenium pop. They often say "Christina was a big influence for me".

No, it was for one of those special programs mtv has... Like, one artist chooses several songs for a video playlist- And she chose Dirrty in #3, I think.

I agree, when I first saw Miley's vid I said the same, then when she said what she did about Christina, I thought even more that she was influenced by Christina.

And I think it was awesome. She knows what it feels to be a Disney girl trying to get out of the teen pop image. Everybody said Miley was trying to copy Lady Gaga when she released "Can't be Tamed" , but I actually think she was influenced by Christina.
That song, her look and the lyrics, were so much like Christina's "Fighter". Even the vocals and the gestures of Miley looked like Christina's.
I'm not saying she's copying Xtina, but she's obviously more influenced by her than by Gaga.

actually i see an undeniable similarity with christina's & charice's beginnings as an artist... charice is also known now as the li'l girl with the big voice...

I had never heard of Charice until I saw her on Glee last week. And the first thing I thought was: gee, this girl has a strong voice... she reminds me of a teenager Christina.
I really hope the producers of Glee make Sunshine and Mercedes sing a bunch of Christina's songs.

The relationship between Pink and Christina was complicated since they worked together in Lady Marmalade. Christina got the most important part of the song (which Pink wanted) and all the publicity, because Christina was ALWAYS the first one mentioned. Pink was often third or last. Then Christina released Stripped a year after Pink released Missundaztood. Both contained simmilar topics and Pink even accused Christina of copying her!
Then, the most hurtful part for Pink, Linda Perry made Christina her new favorite and completely abandoned Pink. Linda even gave Christina a song Pink wanted (Beautiful) and Christina made it one of the biggest musical hits ever!
So... Now Pink is married and (supposedly) mature, she can look back and see what a brat she was.
