I'm a new fan of Christina's. A very,very new fan. In fact, it was only the new album that sold me. An album which, incidentally I have been listening to non-stop. My wife and friends are confused by my new acquired taste in music. You see, I'm over 40 and am known for my love of what might be termed "hippy/psychedelic" music. Or you could call it classic rock. So, why my sudden love of Christina's music? I could just say because it rocks, but that would be a cop out, right? The truth is much more complex.

For a long time I had put Christina in the pantheon of pop divas. Madonna, Britney, Beyonce, et al. While she no doubt has earned her place there, she is much different. Her music does not fit a formula, a code, or any set pattern. It seems to embrace a breathtaking array of musical styles. This I find to be not only intriguing but mind-boggling. Her talent and vocal range is, of course, monumental and this adds even more power to the new album.

Lastly, there is something that I find in her music that is rare. She stands up for what she believes and to hell with whether people like it or not. It is pure empowerment of the individual. That can be sexual, emotional,or intellectual. And it doesn't matter whether you are female or male either. That's a real revolution...and it has a kick ass beat too.
